Making the Most Out of August Recess

Habitat affiliates in South Carolina are not taking a recess this August. In response to the proposed severe funding cuts to National Service and HOME, Executive Directors from the Charleston-area affiliates and the South Carolina State Support Organization (SSO) teamed up to take advantage of Congress' August Recess to meet with their Members of Congress. Earlier this month, the group met with U.S. Representative Mark Sanford (R-SC1) to talk with Representative Sanford about long-term benefits of National Service and HOME and, consistent with Habitat's national stance, asked him to support level funding for these crucial programs.

Plan To Party At Alhambra To Benefit East Cooper Habitat For Humanity

Please join East Cooper Habitat for Humanity as we celebrate 25 years of changing lives.  The world renowned Plantation Singers will greet guests as they arrive.   A variety of local restaurants will be offering delicious hors d'oeuvres paired with refreshing spirits.  The evening will feature award-winning PlaneJane, silent and live auctions.   All proceeds will support ECHFH's mission to build homes, communities and hope. Festivities begin at 6 p.m.

Sea Island Habitat For Humanity's Newest Neighborhood Emphasizes All Sorts Of Green

Most people probably don’t realize that the Lowcountry has the world’s third oldest Habitat for Humanity affiliate. While Sea Island has a rich 37-year history, it continues to seek new and better ways to build affordable homes.

Its emerging Laurel Oak Grove neighborhood on James Island is a great example of two important innovations: a new construction philosophy and site design that emphasizes community.
